Solar Power A Fad?

http://www.solargm.com
Fads come and go and generally last anywhere from several months to several years before their popularity wanes. Though the definition of a fad has been clearly defined many times in the past many individuals erroneously slap this label and all its stigmas on solar power. There are many homeowners and owners of commercial structures who often consider having solar power systems installed at their home or place of business but never move forward a purchase simply because they believe it to be a fad and that support for their systems will either suddenly disappear or disappear after just a few short years.

Solar power is many things but a fad it is not. While in decades past that label could certainly be applied to solar power with some legitimacy, over the last decade or two solar power technology has advanced rapidly to a point where solar power is no longer for just the extremely wealthy or for the environmentally conscious. Modern solar power is far more efficient than it has been in the past and individuals now have the ability to choose from many different types of solar power systems both inexpensive and very expensive. Additionally the solar panels that are installed on or around buildings are no longer as conspicuous and gaudy as they once were. Instead the boast sleek designs.

At some point in the future traditional electrical consumption will be replaced completely by solar power. Be it for homes, businesses, and even vehicles, solar power is not only here to stay but is going to become more and more popular and affordable as time rolls on. If you're a homeowner or own a commercial structure and have often thought of having a solar power system installed there has never been a better time! You don't have to worry about support for your system dropping or becoming obsolete at some point as solar power is anything but a fad. Should you be interested in having a solar power system installed in the near future or have questions or concerns that need to be addressed please feel free to contact us anytime. You'll not only receive help but a free quote should you be interested.

http://www.solargm.com

Many individuals often place home improvement projects on their list of things to do in the new year. Sadly many of these persons aren't sure exactly what to do to with their home to make them more comfortable, efficient, or more attractive to buyers.

One of the best things any homeowner can do to his/her home is to add solar power to it. While the initial cost may be a bit expensive, solar power systems make a home efficient, more valuable to buyers, and certainly more comfortable to live in as appliances can be utilized with more frequency without fear of higher electrical costs at the end of each month. Homeowners concerned with the initial costs of a solar power purchase and installation should consult with a professional regarding state rebates and tax credits and even financing that covers the whole or a portion of their installation costs.

Here at SolarGem we go to great lengths to not only educate our clients and provide them with superior solar products and customer service but we strive to make both the purchase and installation processes simple, exciting, and hassle free. Should you have any questions about solar power for your home please don't hesitate to contact us. Own...Don't Rent Your Electricity

http://www.solargm.com/contactUs
We pay our electric bills each month without giving much thought to the fact that we are actually renting the power we consume rather than owning it. As is the case with most things, renting is much more expensive than owning. This is certainly the case with electricity as monthly bills can skyrocket easily during certain parts of the year and rates are always going. In order to alleviate the rising costs of power consumption homeowners can elect to own their own electricity.

In order to own the electricity they consume homeowners need only to have a solar power system installed. There are many different types of solar power systems available for purchase and though all of them are designed to harness power from the sun and convert it into usable energy, the more expensive a system the more a homeowner can save on their monthly electric bills. Regardless of which type of system a homeowner elects to purchase however there are also tax credits and state rebates that will help homeowners pay for the initial cost of a solar power system. Once installation has been completed a solar power system begins paying for itself immediately.

If you're tired of renting the electricity you consume from local utility companies it might be time to consider adding a solar power system to your home. Not only do we sell high-quality solar products and provide unparalleled customer service from start to finish but we also help our clients complete the paperwork necessary to receive state and local benefits for using solar power.

Solar panels are no longer gaudy editions to a home that stick out like a sore thumb. Instead they are much smaller and inconspicuously installed when they are rarely seen. Should you have questions about our solar power systems or like to have one installed please be sure to contact us for a free estimate and consultation.

Solar Fun Facts Part 1

When the subject of solar power comes up inevitably so does talk of the sun. Many homeowners often wonder just how solar panels convert sunlight into energy but very few of them know much about our host star. Those who have solar power system installed often asked questions such as "how far away is the Sun?" and "how much does the sun weigh?"

Although these questions don't necessarily affect a homeowners impending installation or operation of a solar power system they are fun facts for the inquisitive homeowner.

Our sun is a G2 star composed mostly of hydrogen and helium with trace amounts of other elements found in its atmosphere. As far as distance from Earth is concerned the sun is roughly 93,000,000 miles away from the earth though that distance varies slightly depending on where the Earth is in its orbit. As far as the weight of the sun is concerned it doesn't actually weigh anything. Our star is in an orbital freefall around black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy. While the sun doesn't actually weigh anything by Earth standards, it is rather massive comprising 99% of our solar system's mass.

Fun facts aside our sun provides us with a unique opportunity to not only reduce the cost of our energy bills but be environmentally friendly with our energy consumption as well. The technology surrounding solar power has advanced rapidly over the last couple of decades and is more efficient and effective than ever. Should you have any questions about solar power or like a free quote on a system please be sure to contact us that we may be of assistance.

Inconspicuous Solar Panels

When you talk to homeowners about solar power the big bulky and sometimes unattractive solar panels of the past are often the first things that pop into their mind. Homeowners concerned with solar panels negatively impacting the aesthetics of their home can put those concerns to rest as modern solar panels are quite different from those used in the past. Modern solar panels, even those on the largest systems, are not only easy on the eyes but they're far more efficient and effective from a technological standpoint.

We believe that homeowners should never have to sacrifice the beauty of their home for solar power. This is why all of our solar power systems feature solar panels that are both easy to look at it and many times inconspicuous. Our state-of-the-art solar panels look more like they are a natural part of the home rather than some sort of gaudy add-on feature.

If you're interested in solar power but have lingering fears or doubts as to whether solar panels on your home will look attractive or natural please be sure to contact us with those concerns so that we may help you put those to rest.

Look No Further For Peace Of Mind

Prior to purchasing or having a solar power system installed consumers generally look first for peace of mind. Homeowners and even those owners of commercial structures interested in solar power almost always scour the Internet for information pertaining to a specific solar company prior to moving forward with a purchase. Additionally the same persons will also spend a great deal of time reading reviews and even speaking with a company's past or current clientele. Peace of mind is important to individuals looking to purchase a solar power system simply because the "cost of admission" can sometimes appear expensive even though all solar power systems begin paying for themselves immediately.

Here at SolarGem we believe in not only providing our potential customers with the peace of mind they are looking for prior to purchase but in educating them as well. We're not a company that is content in simply selling a solar power system and then walking away. We want all of our clients to understand how their solar power system works and the differences between the many different types of available systems. Having this knowledge prior to purchase and installation not only helps keep homeowners expectations realistic but allows them to make an educated and informed decision when the time for purchase arrives.

Please feel free to stop by our website and take a look at not only our solar powered systems but what our clients have to say about our products and services. If after doing so you have any questions please feel free to contact us any time!

How Solar Power Systems Work And Work For You

Are you a homeowner who's interested in solar power but one that remains apprehensive about a purchase simply because you're not sure exactly how it works or how much it can save you with regards to your monthly electricity bills? While the science behind solar power is quite complex, solar power works quite simply by converting sunlight into usable electricity for a home and/or business structure.

When the sun beats down solar panels a good percentage of it is converted to usable energy for home or business. This energy is then distributed into a home or commercial structure via the solar power system. Any unused or stored energy can often be sold back to utility companies which results in either refunds or a further reduction in monthly bills. For the consumer solar power is as simple as that!

Should you have any questions about how solar power works or how you and your home can benefit from the installation of a solar power system please be sure to contact us that we may be of assistance.

Solar Power Efficiency And Cleaning

With so many homeowners switching over to solar power there is a lot of excitement around the technology and the purchasing of solar power systems. In the midst of their excitement however what many homeowners often overlook is the fact that their solar panels will become dirty and their efficiency slowly but steadily reduces. When a new solar power system is first installed and activated even the most modest of systems typically converts about 20% of the sunlight it receives into usable energy. Over time however its conversion rate can drop dramatically depending on how much maintenance and care homeowners give their solar panels.

In environments where there's a lot of dust, dirt, or pollen solar panels can lose up to 30% of their efficiency in a relatively short amount of time. Add in even small amounts of wind in those types of climates and solar panels can see their efficiency drop to alarming numbers and relatively quickly as well. In addition to desert climates homeowners need to also be aware of the fact that environments with a high precipitation, be it snow or rain, can also negatively affect their solar panels. When precipitation falls and gathers on solar panels they become havens for dirt, mold, and many other types debris that might try and pass by the panels. On solar panels water acts like a low-grade epoxy resin and helps debris of all types stick to their surface.

Fortunately homeowners needn't worry much about the effectiveness of their solar panels as they can be cleaned. Though they can be cleaned homeowners do need to take great care in doing so. The process can also be time-consuming for those homeowners who choose to do it themselves. Homeowners need to take great care when they set out to clean their solar panels because the wrong chemicals/detergents can damage some solar panels and even render them inert. Ideally homeowners should clean or have their solar panels cleaned every few weeks to maintain peak efficiency though those homeowners with larger solar panel arrays may find that to be inconvenient.

Homeowners concerned with hiring a professional to clean their solar panels and those with little time to do it themselves can actually breathe a sigh of relief. There is a self-cleaning material for solar panels that can be applied by professionals during installation and periodically throughout the life of a solar power system that reduces the number of times panels must be cleaned. This robust coating is designed to maintain peak efficiency over long periods of time. The technology behind this coating is quite complex but homeowners can think of it as being similar to the no fog technology found on corrective lenses and other types of glass. Unlike some of the spray-on coatings available for solar panels this type of coating actually bonds to individual solar panels and forums a barrier between debris and the panel it protects. This usually allows debris and even precipitation to fall roll off solar panels.

For those homeowners who do want to clean their own solar panels themselves, it behooves them to at the very least have a consultation with a solar power professional. It may be the individual or company that installed their system or maybe somebody else but either way these people can help homeowners determine exactly what type of chemicals/detergents and tools to use. While the degradation of solar panel efficiency might be a nuisance to homeowners the cost of replacing damaged solar panels is much more than a simple nuisance.

Solar Power Effectiveness & Initial Costs

One of the most common things that deters homeowners from purchasing a solar power system for their home is the initial cost of purchase/installation. The second most common thing that makes it difficult for homeowners to move forward with such a purchase is fear of a low-quality system due to having to work with a modest budget. These fears however are rooted more in myth and misinformation than in fact.

The truth of the matter is that while the size of the budget a home owner has certainly plays a factor in what type of solar power system they have access to the smaller or less luxurious solar power systems on the market are nothing to scoff at. Even the most affordable modern solar power systems will help homeowners reduce their energy bills, do a great deal for the environment, and earn them tax credits and rebates.

When it comes to the initial cost of a new solar power system homeowners are often surprised to learn that though the initial cost may appear to be high the system begins paying for itself immediately with extremely low monthly energy bills, big tax credits and even state and federal rebates. Moreover some government agencies will actually help pay for part of the initial cost and in some cases nearly the entire thing when a homeowner qualifies for certain programs.

Should you be interested in a new solar power system for your home but have some lingering trepidations because of cost and/or effectiveness please be sure to contact us with your concerns and will be happy to ease them for you!

Returning Energy Efficiency To A Home

Like everything else in life a home can become inefficient. Time robs things of their luster and value though the most frustrating loss is often efficiency. Insulation in a home eventually loses its ability to protect the homes internal environment, and even appliances and electrical devices lose their ability to do their jobs properly. When a home' becomes energy inefficient however homeowners will often notice a steady rise in electrical costs. In order to make a home energy efficient once more there are several things that homeowners need to consider.

Although most homeowners immediately retreat to the thought that says something to the effect of "how much are these changes/upgrades going to cost me" and "where do I even get the money for these things" when they begin thinking about making their home energy efficient again, most of the changes/upgrades needed to make a home energy efficient once more are actually quite affordable and/or pay for themselves. What homeowners will really want to keep in the back of their minds is the fact that while it may cost money to make their home energy efficient again it will cost even more to neglect the problem and pay higher energy bills each month. In effect bringing energy efficiency back to home is a project that pays for itself right out of the gate.

When a homeowner does decide to move forward with improvements to make their home energy efficient again one of the first things they need to look at is air conditioning and furnace units. On average an air conditioning/heating unit will operate at optimal levels anywhere from 15 to 25 years depending on the brand and the maintenance it receives over those years. Once these units pique however they will actually begin consuming more energy in order to do just the half job they did before. Moreover they'll won't be capable of cooling and heating a home as they once did regardless of how much more energy they consume in an attempt to do so. Replacing heating and air-conditioning units can actually reduce energy consumption by 50%.

In keeping with the theme of heating and cooling a home let's talk about replacing windows within a home. While the initial cost of replacing these might seem a little high, depending on the type of homeowner selects, keep in mind that again leaving old windows in place will actually cost homeowners more money than it would to simply replace him. Modern windows are often made with multiple panes/to better insulate a home. This means that not only will help trap cool and hot air pumped out by furnace and A/C units but will also keep sunlight to a minimum and some even reflect ultraviolet light which in turn protects furniture, carpet, and flooring. In addition making a home more energy efficient by replacing windows in a home can also provide security and privacy homeowners as many types of modern windows are reflective and key outside eyes peering in.

Customers concerned with making their homes energy-efficient should also keep their eyes firmly fixed on all of their appliances. Things like refrigerators, stoves/ranges, and even washers and dryers all behave in the same manner as air-conditioning/furnace units do when they are past their prime and on the down slide. These appliances will begin consuming more and more energy as they age in a futile attempt to operate as efficiently as they once did. By leaving old home appliances in place and allowing them to operate far below optimal levels while consuming additional energy can raise energy bills by as much as 40% to 50%.

Homeowners who not only want their home to become energy-efficient again but really want to reduce their monthly electrical bills can opt to have a solar power system put into their home. Not only has solar power change dramatically and become far more efficient than ever has been in recent years but homeowners can also expect rebates and tax credits from state and even federal government agencies once installation has been completed. Moreover any unused energy that is collected and stored in a solar power system can be sold back to utility companies for use elsewhere. Solar power is one of the most popular upgrades for a home right now and with prices very friendly homeowners would be foolish to overlook this possible upgrade.

Keeping all the things they need to replace or upgrade in the back of their minds homeowners should first focus on cost. While many homeowners may not initially have the money to make their homes energy-efficient these same people are often surprised to learn that there is financing available for these types of upgrades. Various nonprofit organizations such as the "EGIA" or The Electric And Gas Industries Association work hard to find homeowners financing for these types of projects and even sponsor some of them themselves. In those scenarios where a homeowner not only has good credit but is in good standing with their mortgage bank said bank may even offer homeowners an additional loan to either improve or raise the value of their home.

Homeowners who seek to bring energy efficiency back in their home all do so for different reasons. Some do so in order to bring the cost of their electrical consumption down while others do so to do something for the environment. Other homeowners still seek to make their homes energy-efficient once more simply because it will raise the resale value of their home. Regardless of why a homeowner chooses to do so however there are no drawbacks to actually doing so. Everybody wins when a home is energy-efficient.

Modern Solar Power And Modern Families

Modern homeowners have a great many more issues to deal with than did homeowners of the past. Chief among them rising energy costs and needs. Whereas homeowners in the past could simply count on a fairly routine and affordable electrical bill each month modern homeowners are faced with electrical needs, prices, and consumption that fluctuates dramatically over the period of a year.

Whereas homeowners in the past utilize a washer and dryer, air conditioning unit, and perhaps a TV or two, modern homeowners and their families often utilize not one or two television sets but often three, four, and sometimes five or more television sets. Additionally these families also utilize desktop computers and corresponding monitors along with multiple smaller electronic devices that constantly need to be charged like tablets and smart phones. It's also not uncommon to find washing machines and dryers that consume more energy than their counterparts of the past simply because they're built to accommodate the needs of larger families.

The energy needs and consumption rates of modern families more than make solar power an attractive option for families but these things also justify the initial cost of having a new solar power system installed. Once a solar power system has been installed in a modern home families can breathe a fairly large sigh of relief as they'll notice that their energy costs drop dramatically and any unused energy can be stored or sold back to a utility company further lowering consumption costs.

Should you have any questions about how solar power benefits modern families or should you be interested in having a solar power system installed in your home please be sure to contact us that we may be of assistance.

Solar Power Benefits For Homeowners

While solar power works very well for both commercial structures and homes, very few homeowners look at solar power the way they should. The vast majority of homeowners think of solar power as an expensive and alternative energy source though nothing could be further from the truth. Homeowners are often proud of the fact that they own their home but they should be dismayed by the fact that they do not own their energy. Homeowners who generate their own energy rather than giving their money to a utility company to rent energy find themselves the more satisfied type of homeowner.

Solar power generated during the day that goes unused can be stored in a solar power system and will reward a homeowner with tax credits and even local benefits. A solar power system will send excess power back to a utility company and homeowners will reap the rewards. This is just one benefit to owning and generating your own power as opposed to renting it from a utility company.

Homeowners also need to keep in mind that while the initial cost of purchasing and installing a solar power system may seem a little high in the beginning its actually a fraction of what they will pay for renting their own energy over the course of just a few years. Homeowners who rent energy from a utility company are actually throwing money out the window on a monthly basis. Electricity doesn't need to be a liability and by installing a solar power system homeowners can instead turn their electricity into an asset.

The vast majority of states offer rebates for homeowners who install and utilize solar power systems. Different states offer different initiatives for homeowners who utilize solar power and these range from covering 15% of the initial cost of the system to various tax rebates and credits. Homeowners interested in a solar power system for the tax credits and other rebate initiatives that go along with it should speak with a solar power contractor to learn more. The vast majority of solar power contractors have brochures, paperwork, and information on their websites that pertain to these types of incentives.

If credits, rebates, and being environmentally friendly aren't enough to convince a homeowner to install a solar power system than they should consider the dramatic increase in value their property will see after having done so. In many cases every dollar that is saved on electricity expenditures can increase the value of a home by up to $20. Even if your not a math wizard it's not difficult to see just how much value a homeowner can add to their property by installing and utilizing a solar power system. Additionally homes with solar power system installed are far more attractive to buyers not only because they appear more modern and environmentally friendly but because they're going to begin saving money just as soon as they move in. Homeowners will also be happy to learn that any increase in property value due to the installation of a solar power system is exempt from property taxes making a solar power system all the more valuable.

In addition to all of the financial and property benefits that a solar power system carries with it homeowners can also help the environment and the country by utilizing solar power in their home. The vast majority of our country is dependent on fossil fuels which are both expensive and running low on availability. As more homeowners adopt solar power in their home they ease the burden of a great many other industries and the government itself. Reducing the stranglehold fossil fuels have on both our governments and our country is always a good thing.

How Solar Power Works

Homeowners interested in having a new solar power system installed often have a myriad of questions. These questions range from the very simple "what will it cost", the more complicated how does solar power actually work. While the technology behind solar power is anything but simple explaining how it actually works isn't overly complicated.

Essentially solar electricity works just as traditional electricity does. The only meaningful difference is in how the power is generated and delivered to your appliances. Through hydro and nuclear reactors electricity can be generated for home use and while these are traditional means of generating power, solar power is far more efficient and environmentally friendly because it simply collects sunlight and converts it to usable energy for your home. In fact solar power and traditionally generated power are so similar that homeowners won't notice anything different after the new system is installed except for a lower electricity bill.

The actual process itself is fairly simple as well. Sunlight hits solar panels and excites electrons within the panels which converts sunlight to usable electricity. While you may have questions about installation, cost, and even efficiency versus traditional power, this should help you understand exactly how solar power works in the simplest of terms. Should you be interested in purchasing a solar power system for your home or having remaining questions answered please feel free to contact us any time.

Solar Power Trends Changing To The Dismay Of Some

It may seem like a silly question but there are some who ask "can you have too much solar energy?" This question is often asked not by those who have a solar power system installed in their home or office but by those whose business is sometimes affected by people consuming less power and relying on the Sun for that power which they require. As the weather continues to heat up outside and late spring rolls into summer many people both at-home and at work will begin to utilize air conditioning units with a higher degree of frequency. Doing so however raises their monthly electric bills and their energy consumption rates. While this is a bad thing for those who wish to remain comfortable in their home or office, those invested in electrical companies see this is a good thing.

Those who view higher energy consumption rates and costs as a good thing however are slowly becoming obsolete as solar power companies are helping both residential and commercial owners keep costs and consumption low while at the same time giving them the ability to run air-conditioning units at a higher rate of frequency without having to worry about a large bill at the end of the month. The way in which people consume and utilize energy have been changed dramatically by recent advancements in solar power technology. Gone are the days where a solar power system only slightly reduced energy consumption and costs. These days photovoltaic cells can convert sunlight into immediately usable energy that's also storable. This technology allows energy to be stored for use during the night and even during days when the sun is buried beneath clouds.

Try as they might however those invested in traditional energy companies cannot halt the progress of nor the rapid jump in popularity of solar power. Modern solar power systems, especially those of the extremely expensive variety, allow homeowners and business owners to operate "off the grid" by removing the need for any traditional electricity whatsoever. Even the most inexpensive modern solar power systems still reduces the energy consumption rates for home and business owners dramatically much to the dismay of electrical companies everywhere. Individual state and even the federal government is helping facilitate solar power adoption rates by offering tax rebates and other money reward programs which more and more consumers take advantage of daily.

Given the fact that energy rates continually and often dramatically rise, especially in the summer, it should come as no surprise to those invested in a electrical companies that home and business owners are moving quick to have solar power systems installed in their home or office building. Looking at the future it's no longer hard to envision a time in which each home operates independently and off the grid while running appliances like air-conditioning units 24 hours a day. The technology surrounding solar power advances at such a rapid rate that is all but in an inevitability.
