Solar Power Is Not A New Thing

When you speak to people about solar power they are usually under the impression that it is both very expensive and a more modern technology. In truth both of these assessments are inaccurate. Solar power these days is inexpensive and pays for itself rather quickly. It would also be inaccurate to call solar power a modern invention or new technology.

For as long as life has resided on this planet, many different forms of life have utilized the sun in order to sustain life. Life forms such as plants, even those that are now extinct, relied on solar power for photosynthesis. This is the process by which plants create their own food and grow. More complex life forms, or specifically animal life has been dependent on solar power for their primary heat source since it first appeared.

It is only in recent decades that we have begun harnessing passive solar energy and turning it into usable electricity and energy for our homes and businesses. However, to say that even this type of solar power is a recent technological breakthrough would be incorrect. Solar power has been harnessed and used in homes, businesses, and even on vehicles for many decades. Since the inception of modern solar power systems however the technology has grown to be incredibly efficient and affordable.
